APPLICATION AREAS OF MB-SEAL®
Overmolding metal inserts is an established practice—the challenge lies in the details. Sensitive surfaces, tight tolerances, painted or galvanized inserts: burr formation and damage from the mold closing process are costly everyday problems in practice.
This is precisely where MB-Seal® comes in.
MB-Seal® Solves the Problem at its Root
Burrs and surface damage are not caused by poor tools — they are caused by a lack of sealing. Stamped parts with large fracture surfaces, punch notches, or sensitive surfaces are particularly susceptible. MB-Seal® prevents precisely this: reliably, reproducibly, and with tool protection.
MB-Seal® Seals — Permanently and Precisely
MB-Seal® is applied directly in the injection mold around the areas of the insert part to be sealed. It replaces conventional steel seals and surpasses them in flexibility and service life. The result: damage and burr-free overmolding, reduced rework, and more economical tool operation.

MB-Seal® is used in numerous injection molds and has proven its worth many times over under real production conditions. Previous experience shows no visible signs of wear after approx. 80,000 cycles.
Material compatibility
The sealing elements are suitable for processing reinforced and unreinforced plastics, including PBT 30% GF, PA 30% GF and TPE.
Areas of application
MB-Seal® is particularly suitable for inserts with a sheet thickness of approx. 4 mm and more. Even large-format inserts with a diameter of up to 25 mm and a weight of approx. 5 kg are reliably sealed.
Tolerance compensation
A key advantage of MB-Seal® is its thickness-independent tolerance compensation:
- Square inserts: 0.1 mm per side to the cutting plane, 0.1–0.15 mm total across
- Round inserts: approx. 0.2 mm diameter
Processing and assembly
The processing of the sealing elements is straightforward and can be carried out by us on request. Assembly is analogous to standard mold inserts.
