APPLICATION AREAS OF MB-SEAL®
Overmolding metal inserts with plastic is common practice today. It guarantees high functionality in terms of assembly while maintaining a high-quality surface finish. Wherever exceptional demands are placed on metal components, composite materials (hybrid joints) are used. The use of plastics currently represents the most cost-effective joining method for metal and plastic, especially for metal inserts with sensitive surfaces (painted or other sensitive surfaces).
MB-Seal® “solves your problems”
The use of MB-Seal® prevents surface damage such as abrasions or dents as well as the formation of burrs, which often occurs in stamped parts with large fracture surfaces and punch notches.
MB-Seal® “keeps tight”
MB-Seal® is applied in the injection mold around the areas of the insert that need to be sealed. Even after machining the sealing elements, MB-Seal® replaces and significantly outperforms conventional steel seals. Overmolding of your inserts is damage- and burr-free. Molds equipped with MB-Seal® operate reliably and economically, thus reducing your costs.
MB-Seal® “has proven itself”
MB-Seal® has already been used in many injection molds and has proven itself in practice. Our sealing elements are suitable for processing reinforced and unreinforced plastics such as PBT 30%GF, PA 30%GF, and TPE. The sealing elements are particularly suitable for sheet thicknesses from approximately 4 mm. Even inserts with a diameter of 25 mm and a weight of approximately 5 kg function perfectly. Tolerances can be compensated with MB-Seal®.

Previous experience with the sealing element without visible wear has shown approximately 80,000 cycles. Machining the sealing elements is extremely simple, or we can also perform the machining ourselves. The elements are assembled in the same way as mold inserts.

Burr-free overmolding of metal inserts with flexible sealing elements from MB-Seal®
50% CHEAPER THAN COMPARABLE PRODUCTS
With MB-Seal® sealing elements, metal inserts can be overmolded without burrs or damage. Our flexible plastic sealing elements are installed in an injection mold. They have proven successful with reinforced and unreinforced plastics (e.g. PBT 30%GF, PA 30%GF and TPE). If necessary, the element can be adapted to the cavity. Free shaping through machining is easily possible. These special sealing elements come into their own particularly well with inserts made of sheet metal 4 mm or thick. Your inserts are reliably overmolded without damage or burr formation. Your injection molds operate with process reliability, more economically and therefore save considerable costs. Even after machining, our sealing elements not only replace the conventional sealing area made of steel, but surpass it.
